ART IN THE TIME OF COVID-19
MEDIUM: COLLAGE/MIXED MEDIA
COVID-19 is a major disruptor of life as we know it. This art making began in late February or early March, 2020, in the early days of world wide shut down, which threw people into an unnatural state of isolation.
My way forward was to structure morning time in the studio taking things apart from their familiar context. Years of collecting compelling images in the collage box were cut and torn, becoming individual pieces adhered into a fresh new whole. I choose to number them.
Nightly news clips became collage images for Cowgirl boots acknowledging "what's happening now", one on Pandemics, one on Black Lives Matter.
Exhibits celebrating the daunting work by women's suffragettes legalizing the right women have to vote are cancelled. August 26 is known as Women's Equality Day.
Art is not an escape, but a way of finding order in chaos, a way of confronting life.
